NotesWHY CANCELLED (Riviera, Jul 2018): Pertamina halted the US$800M project citing slack gas demand in West Java - abundant cheap coal and slow gas infrastructure development made demand forecasts optimistic; the site sat roughly halfway between the two existing FSRUs (PGN Lampung and Nusantara Regas Jakarta Bay), only ~250 km apart, so a second land-based receiving terminal was judged redundant. JV partner was Kalla Group unit Bumi Sarana Migas (BSM; HOA Apr 2015: 4 Mtpa, operations planned 2019, pushed to 2020); JBIC was to finance, Tokyo Gas to design (2 x 160,000 m3 tanks). Pertamina left the door open: a rebound in power-sector gas demand could prompt a feasibility review.
